1809–1836: Classic Head Half Cent uses John Reich’s Classic Head design on the 5.44-gram copper standard. The type span is 1809–1836, but half cents were not made every year; there was a long suspension after 1811 before production resumed in 1825.
That interruption matters when building a date set. Collectors also distinguish head styles, date sizes, and reverse details, while checking the plain edge and 1/200 fraction for agreement with the denomination.
