Reverse: Program-specific reverse design for the year and issue.
The American Women Quarters Program was created by the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020 and ran from 2022 through 2025. Five new reverse designs were issued each year to recognize women whose achievements shaped American history, science, government, the arts, civil rights, and other fields. Maya Angelou was honored on the first coin released in 2022. The program also introduced a new obverse portrait of George Washington based on a design by Laura Gardin Fraser.
