The American Innovation $1 Coin Program is authorized for 2018-2032. A 2018 introductory coin preceded four annual issues beginning in 2019 for the states, District of Columbia, and five U.S. territories.
The complete structure is one introductory coin plus 56 jurisdiction issues. Subjects include inventions, ideas, and innovators, so the program should not be described only as engineering designs.
