Connecticut’s tercentenary coin uses the Charter Oak rather than a portrait to represent colonial self-government. Henry Kreis balanced the spreading tree with an Art Deco eagle on the reverse. Its bold design and single-year distribution helped it become one of the most admired 1930s commemoratives.
Obverse: The Charter Oak.
Reverse: American eagle.
