The story behind this coin

Hudson, New York, used this coin to mark 150 years since the city’s founding by New England proprietors. The reverse’s unusual Neptune-on-a-whale emblem comes from the city seal. With only about ten thousand distributed, the issue sold quickly and soon traded above its original price.
