1901–1912: Liberty Head "V" Nickel (Variety 2: "With Cents" on Reverse) history

The Liberty Head nickel entered the twentieth century with Charles E. Barber's CENTS reverse unchanged. Denver and San Francisco joined production only in 1912, the final regular year of the series.

No regular 1913 Liberty Head nickels were authorized, although five famous 1913 pieces later surfaced. Date, mintmark, corn ear detail, and honest surface texture are the practical checks for ordinary issues.
