1932–1964: Washington Quarter (90% Silver) history

John Flanagan's Washington quarter debuted in 1932 for the bicentennial of George Washington's birth and became the permanent quarter design. Silver circulation issues continued through 1964, with no quarters struck in 1933.

Key dates include 1932-D and 1932-S. Mintmark location, date, breast feathers on the eagle, hair detail, and original surfaces help separate normal wear from weak striking.
