2001–2008: Sacagawea Golden Dollar (Standard Eagle Reverse Era) history

The Sacagawea dollar retained Thomas D. Rogers Sr.'s soaring-eagle reverse from 2001 through 2008 after the heavily promoted 2000 launch. Production increasingly served collector and transactional demand rather than broad everyday circulation.

The common eagle reverse ended when the Native American $1 Coin Program began annual reverse changes in 2009. These coins keep the plain edge and 8.10-gram manganese-brass clad standard.
