2001–2025: Kennedy Half Dollar (Copper-Nickel Clad Composition Type) history

The regular Kennedy half dollar continued in copper-nickel clad form from 2001 through 2025, with the Presidential Seal reverse by Frank Gasparro. Collector demand increasingly accounted for production as everyday circulation declined.

A special Statue of Liberty design replaces the normal type for 2026, so that year is an interruption rather than a standard Kennedy/Presidential Seal issue. The regular series may resume after the one-year commemoration.
