Liberty Cap Large Cent attribution history

Joseph Wright is associated with the 1793 Liberty Cap cent, whose edge reads ONE HUNDRED FOR A DOLLAR. Subsequent Liberty Cap cents were revised under the early Mint engraving department, with Robert Scot commonly connected to the later design work.

The shift from the 13.48-gram cent standard to approximately 10.89 grams explains why a single weight cannot describe every 1793–1796 example. Attribution should combine the date, planchet weight, edge treatment, portrait style, and reverse fraction.
