U.S. Mint coin reference
Liberty Seated dollars are large silver coins from the pre-Trade dollar era.

Obverse: Liberty seated on a rock holding shield and pole.
1840–1865: Liberty Seated Silver Dollar (Variety 1: No Motto) returned the silver dollar to regular production after a long suspension. Christian Gobrecht’s Seated Liberty obverse and eagle reverse appeared without IN GOD WE TRUST through 1865.
Mintages were often limited and branch-mint issues can be rare. Date, mintmark, strike character, and surface originality matter, while the 26.73-gram .900-silver standard remained distinct from the later Trade dollar.
