1866–1873: Liberty Seated Silver Dollar (Variety 2: "In God We Trust" Motto Added) history

1866–1873: Liberty Seated Silver Dollar (Variety 2: "In God We Trust" Motto Added) adds IN GOD WE TRUST on a ribbon above the eagle following Civil War-era authorization of the motto. The underlying Seated Liberty dollar standard remained .900 silver at 26.73 grams.

Low mintages and limited commercial use make many dates scarce. Mintmark, strike, surface originality, and the motto reverse distinguish this subtype from the 1840–1865 No Motto design.
